Jellybean watched the man and woman with a smile. She was excited to meet them. They were funny, even when they argued. She heard someone moving behind her and looked back.
"Hey Jesus," She greeted, getting to her feet.
"Ready to go?" He asked her.
"Yup ... all set," She took his offered hand, "I'm so excited. I think I made a good choice."
"You put a lot of thought into your choice," Jesus smiled down at her.
"Do you think they'll like me?" Jellybean asked. Jesus nodded
"I think they'll love you, they've been waiting for a long time," Jesus reassured her. Jellybean let out her breath.
"I've been waiting a long time too ..."
Jesus swallowed his chuckle. Jellybean was known to be a tad on the impatient side. She took a while to make a decision, but once she did she wanted results immediately. She would learn to be patient on Earth. He was sure her new parents had exuberant amounts of it. He glanced down at them ... well ... maybe they would learn too.
"So ..." Jellybean looked up at Jesus, "do they know I'm coming?"
"Not yet," Jesus shook his head.
"I'm so excited!" Jellybean burst out suddenly into a grin, "This is going to be a great adventure!" Jesus chuckled and nodded.
"The adventure of a lifetime ..." He stopped, "Are you ready?"
"Yes ... I'm a little scared ..." She admitted, glancing tentatively at the white gate. St. Peter was always busy. It was a constant coming and going at the gates. It wasn't unusual for a few young ones to get out early.
"Just remember one thing little Jellybean ... the light is a safe place to be," Jesus knelt down in front of her, "Don't ever be afraid of the light, because although it might be scary to travel towards the light ... it will always be a safe place for you." Jellybean nodded.
"I love you Jesus ... will I ever see you again?"
"Of course ..." He hugged her tightly.
"Will I remember you?" Jellybean asked with wide eyes.
"Well ... maybe not at first, but I'll be with you ... and I'm sure you'll hear about me." Jesus said honestly.
"To sort of jog my memory," Jellybean nodded, "Okay," Jellybean let out a deep breath, then hurried to get into the group. Jesus watched the little ones calm down. They began to file out as St. Peter called them forward. He watched Jellybean get called and heard her just as she stepped through the gate with ST. Peter, "St. Peter ... how ARE babies made anyways?" Jesus chuckled.
